On The Road – Part Two & Three

Hello, again.

A fair bit has happened since I last checked in — we’ve visited Hahei, Whitianga and Thames, Hannah finally checked ‘go north of Auckland’ off her bucket list when we graced Warkworth and Matakana with our presence, we traversed the motorways of Auckland for two weeks, had a short pitstop in Waiuku, and then, following the change in Alert Levels, made our way back to Wellington with our final meal of the road trip being a kebab in Bulls — delectabull, am I right?

If you’re more of a numbers person, that’s
47 stops
2,000 cups of coffee served
1 generator break down
1,500-ish spins on the wheel
1 mild concussion
Numerous good swims
1 (too many) listens to Timbaland’sShock Value in its entirety
200 blocks of Whittaker’s, jars of Fix & Fogg and bags of Skinny Dipped Almonds given out
1 portrait of Doug & Soph drawn (we welcome more)
$1250 in the pool for Trees That Count
Too many mentions of ‘I’d be lost without this reverse camera’ from Hannah
1 wasp trapped in Soph’s shorts

While we’re gutted that we had to cancel the Northland and Manawatū-Whanganui legs of our trip due to Covid, we realise how incredibly lucky we are to have been able to spend the past seven weeks driving around the North Island and spending time with you all.

For the next two weeks, the caravan will be popping up around the capital city. If you’re yet to come and visit, clear your calendar and have a look at the itinerary here. Our final stop of the Cheers Tour will be at Wellington’s beloved, Newtown Festival. Come on down, it’s always a treat.

See you out there.

Cheers,
Soph
