During the month of March we pulled up our socks, straightened our aprons and set up shop on Riddiford Street in Newtown, Wellington for the annual Newtown Fair. The sun was out and so was half the city. Newtown Fair was an awesome day and we were pretty chuffed to be presenting the South Stage alongside old mates RadioActive.fm, and to serve them all coffee too.
The South stage showcased some of the countries finest musical acts, including Wellington locals ONONO, a New Zealand psych pop band. Started as a home recording project, Jonathan Nott writes, records, performs and produces the music. ONONO then borrows members from fellow Wellington acts Red Sky Blues, Sport Royal and Hans Pucket to form the live performing ONONO act. ONONO burst onto the scene late 2016 with the release of seven track LP Bad Posture.
After releasing a seven track EP Bad Posture in late 2016, Stand is Jono’s latest ONONO recording and we’re honored to have supported it as our second Coffee Supreme Press release with Ball of Wax Records. This collaborative project sees a limited pressing of 150 copies of the Stand EP on vinyl.
Stand is the second vinyl release we’ve had the pleasure of helping with as part of our Coffee Supreme Press initiative. Our first of which saw us team up with Wellington act Groeni, to release their Hinde Ep. Groeni guitarist James Paul now helms seedling Wellington record label Ball of Wax. Playing happy family, Ball of Wax’s roster supports Wellington’s freshest and finest including ONONO, who we’re stoked to be supporting.
