We know that great coffee means little without a team of friendly faces to peddle it - so we are on the hunt for a group of Christchurch’s best hospitality pro’s.

After years of doing this kinda thing, we’ve learnt that coffee quality shouldn’t come at the expense of approachability and service - it should be fun, engaging and honest. We have always believed hospitality and generosity form the backbone of any good coffee experience and we’re after talented people to feel the same way.

We want to give you the opportunity to help build an iconic cafe in the heart of Christchurch’s most exciting precincts, to learn as much as you can and to be a part of New Zealand’s leading coffee roaster.

Some of the main duties are:
  • Greeting and serving customers
  • Taking orders and using the POS system
  • Producing espresso and brewed coffee to the highest standards, using Supreme's approved techniques.
  • Delivering food and coffee to the table
  • Clearing tables and other standard cafe tasks

  • Be an experienced and confident coffee maker.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of specialty coffee, and have a desire to share this knowledge with others
  • Provide warm, engaging and generous customer service.
  • Work well in a team and build a positive team culture.
  • Be reliable and punctual and set that expectation in your team.
  • Represent the Coffee Supreme brand well at all times
  • Work hard, hustle, and have a lot of energy.
  • Have a positive can-do attitude.
We have a mixture of roles in our new space - from casual to full-time. Coffee experience is helpful but not completely essential - if you love looking after people and creating memorable experiences, send your CV and a cover letter to [email protected]

Queensland Production Assistant
Brisbane, Australia
Full time
immediate
The production team plays a crucial role in the delivery of our Supreme experience to our customers. They are responsible for ensuring our customers receive a quality product, delivered exactly as ordered, on time and with warm Supreme hospitality.

We're looking for a Production Assistant to join the team, in a role split between roasting (about 65%) and order fulfilment (about 35%). In this role you'll work with the Production Manager to roast and deliver a consistent product to our customers.

A typical day might involve warming up the roaster, checking the production schedule for the day, roasting the required batches of coffee, and packing it into bags ready for despatch. Then you might spend a bit of time assembling customer orders before prepping up the blends for the next day and fulfilling any cleaning and maintenance schedules in the production area. The next day could involve forecasting green coffee requirements, ordering supplies, carrying out some deliveries and then running a team/customer cupping in the afternoon.

It sounds cheesy, but you really do need a passion for coffee in order to be successful in this role - it's an honour to get to roast for our customers, and we want to provide them with the very best coffees available!

You'll need to be able to work efficiently, and be physically fit and strong. You'll be seeing customers daily too, so some great customer service skills and a genuine desire to help people will come in handy.

As a member of the roasting team you'll be responsible for quality control, so you'll need to understand the cupping process and demonstrate a well-educated palate. A sound knowledge base of coffee farming and processing methods and/or previous experience in specialty coffee is essential.

We're a small team in Brissie, so we all contribute to making it work...being a team player who's excited to help out wherever needed is a must.

A full job description is available, so let us know if you're interested!
Some of the main duties are:
  • Preparing blends according to the set CS recipes.
  • Roasting coffee according to set specifications, and ensure smooth changes when needed to maintain a consistent roast profile
  • Participating in cupping and Quality Control processes
  • Assembling coffee orders in readiness for delivery
  • Carrying out deliveries to customers
  • Checking in with customers and proactively offering/arranging support
  • Fulfilling all assigned service and cleaning schedules
  • Keeping the production area organised and tidy
  • Performing regular stocktakes and maintaining accurate inventory records in MYOB
  • Assisting with hosted events
The successful applicant will:
  • Have two years experience in specialty coffee, preferably with roasting experience
  • Ideally have a base knowledge of specialty coffee, processing methods, coffee flavours and profiles
  • Be organised and work efficiently with a high attention to detail
  • Have strong customer service skills
  • Be physically fit and strong
  • Be reliable and consistent with a great sense of humour and ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Be a team player
  • Have a full clean driver's licence and be able to drive a manual
  • Have a focus on running efficient systems and continuous improvement
Send us your CV along with a cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and why you'd be perfect for this role.
