Hospitality Professional Required
Hopper Street, Wellington
Our Hopper Street Espresso Bar is the welcoming entry point for all visitors to the NZ Coffee Supreme roastery, and we're now looking for a warm and friendly hospitality professional to be the person giving out great first impressions of Supreme!

Our aim is to give people our Supreme experience, all connected through a coffee shared. Whether it's one of our neighbours just popping in for a take away flattie, a cafe customer dropping by to grab an order, or a visitor from overseas wanting to see our operation, we want everyone to feel welcome and completely taken care of.

As well as providing a friendly face to our roastery, the other key duty of the role is of course, making delicious spros - so we need someone with great coffee making skills (we have a La Marzocco / Mythos combo). Ideally you'll also have some existing knowledge of specialty coffee too.

Although you'll get support from a whole team at the factory, and back up from our amazing Customs team, it's a role where you are mostly working on your own, as the espresso bar is pretty small and currently only requires one person to run it.

It's a bit of a unicorn role in that it's Monday to Friday - yup no weekends! We're open from 7am to 11.30am, so it's only 5 hours a day (25 hours per week) - this could be perfect for a parent who wants to be available for school pick up, for a student who wants part time work and has flexibility in their classes, or for someone who has their own project happening and wants to supplement that with something else!
Some of the main duties are:
  • Greeting and serving customers.
  • Taking orders and using the POS system.
  • Producing espresso and brewed coffee to the highest standards, using Supreme's approved techniques.
  • Selling retail coffee and other products.
  • Clearing tables and keeping the place looking spic and span.
  • Ensuring the site is secured at the end of the day.
The successful applicant will:
  • Provide warm and engaging customer service.
  • Genuinely enjoy meeting and connecting with people.
  • Have 2+ years experience as a barista.
  • Be familiar with the Coffee Supreme brand and values.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of specialty coffee, processing methods etc.
  • Be ok with mostly working on your own.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
  • Present well at all times.
  • Work hard, and have a lot of energy.
  • Have a positive can-do attitude.
Please send us an email telling us why you'd be a great fit in our team, along with a current CV.
